Why I Sometimes Think About Leaving Winnipeg

I’ve lived in Winnipeg most of my life, and for a long time I never really thought about living anywhere else.
This city is familiar to me. My friends are here, my family is here, and in many ways it still feels like home.
But over the past few years I’ve noticed more conversations about people leaving Winnipeg.
Some friends have moved to other provinces for work opportunities. Others wanted to try living somewhere with a different pace of life or a different climate.
It’s not that Winnipeg is a bad place to live. In many ways it’s still a great city. The community here can feel really strong, and there are parts of the city that I genuinely love.
Still, sometimes I catch myself wondering what life might be like somewhere else.
I think that’s a normal thought for a lot of people. Not necessarily because they want to leave forever, but because they’re curious about what other places might offer.
For now, I’m still here.
Winnipeg is still home to me. But every once in a while, the thought of trying something new somewhere else crosses my mind.
